ARTIC membership delivers concrete benefits by amplifying individual centres’ impact, extending industry reach, and increasing the effectiveness of research translation through shared resources and collective action.

Building the Future of Research Translation

Research translation turns research knowledge, discoveries and expertise into real-world impact, from policy and practice to industry collaboration, new technologies and community benefit. ARTIC brings research centres together to strengthen this process through shared expertise, capability and collaboration across disciplines and sectors.

ARTIC welcomes research centres across Australia and New Zealand, spanning STEM, health, social sciences, humanities, policy and interdisciplinary research.

One-time Membership Contribution. ARTIC membership is supported by a one-time contribution, payable when a research centre joins. It is not tied to a particular calendar year and is not an annual subscription. Member research centres can remain part of ARTIC for as long as ARTIC continues, with ARTIC seeking external funding, partnerships and other sources of support to sustain and grow the consortium over time.

Associate Membership is designed for research centres that want to participate in the ARTIC network, build connections, access shared knowledge and opportunities, and maintain visibility across the research translation community.

Associate Membership includes:

Member Participation. Up to three nominated members per research centre can participate in eligible ARTIC member activities, including networking opportunities, briefings and events.
Member Resources. Access to practical guides, templates, examples, case studies and shared resources developed through the ARTIC network.
ARTIC Lunch & Learn Series. Access to ARTIC’s regular Lunch & Learn program, connecting members with practical insights, case studies and expertise across research translation, industry engagement and innovation.
Funding and Partnership Updates. Receive updates about relevant funding opportunities, partner activities, industry engagement opportunities and examples of research translation across the network.
Translation Challenge Submission. Submit research translation questions, capability needs or partnership challenges to ARTIC for consideration, network input and possible introductions.
Member Directory Profile. Recognition as an ARTIC member on the ARTIC website, including a Centre profile, key capabilities and relevant links.
Collective Advocacy. Opt in to relevant ARTIC statements, consultation responses and collective advocacy activities where your Centre supports the position.
Member Communications. Receive regular ARTIC updates, invitations and information about emerging activities across the consortium.

Full Membership

Lead and Shape the National Agenda

One-time foundation contribution

Full Membership is for research centres that want to take an active role in shaping ARTIC’s priorities, leading collaborative initiatives and strengthening research translation through collective action. Full Members play an active role in shaping ARTIC’s direction, priorities and activities.

Full Membership includes everything in Associate Membership, plus:

Extended Centre Participation. Up to eight nominated members per research centre can participate in ARTIC member activities, compared with three for Associate Members.
Capability Development. Access to ARTIC’s research translation capability-building program, including training, masterclasses and targeted professional development activities.
ARTIC Leadership Forum. One nominated senior representative from each Full Member Centre holds a place on the ARTIC Leadership Forum, contributing to ARTIC’s strategic priorities and future direction.
Policy and Advocacy. Full Members participate in the development of ARTIC submissions, policy positions and advocacy priorities, including opportunities to contribute before positions are finalised.
Working Groups and Communities of Practice. Full Members can nominate representatives to participate in all ARTIC working groups and communities of practice relevant to their Centre.
Lead an ARTIC Initiative. Full Members can propose and, where agreed with ARTIC, lead or co-lead a working group, collaborative project, event or other member initiative.
Annual Strategic Session. One dedicated annual strategy session with ARTIC leadership focused on the Centre’s translation priorities, challenges, partnerships and opportunities.
Capability and Collaboration Matching. ARTIC will work with Full Members to identify relevant expertise and complementary capabilities across the member network and facilitate introductions.
Full Member Showcase. Each Full Member can nominate research capabilities, translation case studies or partnership opportunities for inclusion in ARTIC’s member showcase and communications program.

Best suited to: Centres that want a leadership role in ARTIC, a stronger voice in national discussions and active involvement in shaping collaborative research translation initiatives.

Capability Building

Practical training in research translation, design thinking, industry engagement and research communications, with opportunities to build skills through advanced training, shared expertise and applied learning.

Foundation Member Recognition

Help Shape ARTIC From the Beginning

Research centres joining ARTIC during its founding period will be recognised as Founding Members.

Founding Members are part of ARTIC’s formative community and will be recognised as organisations that contributed to establishing the consortium and shaping its early priorities, activities and direction.

Founding Member recognition will remain associated with the research centre as ARTIC grows.

Supporting ARTIC’s Growth and Sustainability

The one-time membership contribution supports ARTIC’s coordination, activities and continued development as a collaborative research translation consortium.

Membership contributions help ARTIC to:

coordinate and connect the member network
convene member discussions, working groups and leadership forums
deliver shared programs, initiatives and resources
support collaboration and stakeholder engagement
coordinate Australian policy engagement and collective advocacy
build ARTIC’s capability, profile and operating infrastructure
develop longer-term partnerships and pursue government, industry and other external funding

ARTIC’s long-term goal is to build a sustainable funding model that does not rely on annual membership fees. ARTIC will actively pursue external funding, partnerships, sponsorship and collaborative project support to sustain and expand its activities over time.

ARTIC will seek external funding, partnerships and other sources of support to sustain and grow the consortium over time.

Participation in Activities. ARTIC’s program will continue to evolve in response to member priorities, opportunities and available resources. Activities will be communicated to members as they are developed, and participation will depend on the relevance and format of each initiative.

Introductions and Collaboration. ARTIC may facilitate connections between research centres, industry, government and other partners, and may identify opportunities for collaboration or funding. Introductions and opportunities are intended to support further discussion and do not guarantee partnerships, funding, contracts or other outcomes.

Policy and Advocacy. Full Members can contribute to the development of ARTIC’s Australian policy positions, submissions and national advocacy priorities. No research centre will be represented as endorsing a statement or position without its agreement.

Member Contributions. ARTIC is a collaborative consortium and its value grows through the knowledge, experience and participation of its members. Research centres may be invited to contribute expertise, case studies, speakers, resources, feedback or staff participation to relevant activities. Participation in individual initiatives is voluntary unless otherwise agreed.

Continuing Participation After a Research Centre Ends. When a member research centre reaches the end of its funded term or formally concludes, individuals who were part of that centre may choose to remain connected to and participate in the ARTIC community. This opportunity is open to any former member of the research centre and is not limited to the centre’s previously nominated ARTIC representatives.
